Simple habits to make your imitation and oxidised pieces last far longer.
The golden rules
- Last on, first off. Wear jewellery after makeup, perfume, and hair spray. Take it off before bed.
- Keep it dry. Avoid water — no showers, swims, workouts, or dishwashing while wearing.
- Skip the chemicals. Perfumes, deodorants, lotions, and cleaning agents dull the finish.
Storing your pieces
- Store each piece separately in its pouch or a soft-lined box — this prevents scratches and tangling.
- Add a small silica sachet in the box to keep moisture out.
- Keep away from direct sunlight and humidity.
Cleaning
- Wipe gently with a soft dry cloth after wear.
- For oxidised pieces, don't polish — the dark antique finish is part of the design.
- Never use toothpaste, silver polish, or harsh scrubs on artificial jewellery.
Travel tip
Roll each piece in a small strip of soft cloth or bubble wrap and stash in a hard case so nothing bends in transit.
